Principal
Hi my name is Sandi Abel and I am the Principal of Oceanview Heights School. I have a
teaching component in the school and relieve in the classes on occasions. I am also the Lead
School Principal for our Aoraki RTLB Cluster 37. I am passionate about our school and we
pride ourselves on the quality teaching and learning we provide at the school, as well as
the quality relationships with our families and whanau.

Kia ora Koutou. My name is Rose (Mrs Rose) and I am teaching in Room 1. I am really
looking forward to getting to know everyone and having a fun year with your children. I
have taught in the Junior School for a few years and was previously a kindergarten
teacher in Southland. I have three adult children and four grandchildren, with another
two on the way. I am passionate about our environment, physical education as well as
Dyslexia and Autism. I also really enjoy teaching Reading and Art.

Hi my name is Vicky Lambert. I live here in Timaru with my husband and two daughters. I
love spending time with my family, we go for walks, watch movies and play a lot of mini
golf. Maths and Science are my favourite subjects to teach.

Kia ora everyone. My name is Tessa Cooper. I have moved down from Christchurch, and now
I live in Cave. I have been a teacher for many years. My favourite subjects to teach are
Maths and English. I think that Timaru is absolutely beautiful, especially the view from
OVH school, where we have a view of the sea and the mountains!

Hi my name is Christine Welch and I am the Office Manager at Oceanview Heights School. I
am the friendly face who welcomes our children and their families and whanau to our
school. I enjoy being part of a family focused school and support the children with
fundraising and sporting activities.

Hi my name is Melissa Jackson and I am the Officer Manager on a Friday at Oceanview
Heights School. I also work with the Aoraki RTLB Cluster Manager as her P.A. / Finance
Officer.

Hi my name is Maree Campbell and I am the Teacher Aide in Room 1. I support the new
entrant children with their writing, reading and maths. I am also responsible for Duffy
Books in Homes and Scholastics Book Club.

Hi my name is Stacey Hawthorne and I am the Teacher Aide in Room 3. I support the
children with their learning and am passionate about children being creative in their
art. I am also responsible for our school library.

Hi my name is Liz Sakimura and I am the Teacher Aide in Room 4. I enjoy working with the
senior children and I encourage all our children to be involved with sport in and out of
school. I especially enjoy supporting our English as 2nd Language children, in the
classroom

Hi my name is Ra Timms. I have been working at OVH School for over a year as a Teacher
Aide in Rooms 1 and 2. I have 2 children who were of very high needs. Their journey
taught me many things. Most of all, how to be adaptive. My favourite times in class are
when I see a student “get” something, that “light bulb” moment. Also when they make the
right choice and I know how far they have come and how hard they have worked. I really
respect the Teachers and fellow Teacher Aides and the care and knowledge they pass on,
particularly respect, responsibility and care.

Hi my name is Craig Buchannan and I am the Caretaker at Oceanview Heights School. I have
2 children at the school and my passion includes helping out with the art work in the
school – come see my art work on the Vege Tec garden shed.
